A thick winter fog in the mountains of Bosnia led to a 1977 aviation tragedy that claimed the life of Džemal Bijedić, one of Yugoslavia's most influential and beloved leaders.
On January 18, 1977, a plane carrying Yugoslav Prime Minister Džemal Bijedić crashed into the snow-covered Inač Mountain. The disaster killed Bijedić, his wife Razija, and six others on board. The group was traveling from Belgrade to Sarajevo when their Learjet struck a peak during a severe blizzard.
