Sudan has more ancient pyramids than the nation of Egypt

While Egypt is famous for its towering monuments, Sudan actually contains hundreds more of these ancient structures, built by the powerful Kushite kings who once ruled the Nile Valley.

Sudan is home to over 200 ancient pyramids, nearly double the number found in neighboring Egypt. These striking monuments were primarily constructed by the Kingdom of Kush between 700 BCE and 300 CE. Located mostly in the ancient city of Meroe, these structures served as grand tombs for Nubian kings and queens.
