The lowest point on dry land is getting lower every year
The Dead Sea shoreline currently sits more than 430 meters below sea level and continues to drop by roughly one meter annually as its water sources are diverted for human use.
The Dead Sea is the lowest point on the Earths surface and its water level is vanishing at an alarming rate. Since the 1960s the water level has dropped by over 30 meters because the Jordan River which normally feeds the sea is being used for agriculture and drinking water.
