While long celebrated as a wonder of Babylon, modern archaeological evidence suggests the legendary Hanging Gardens were actually located 300 miles north in the Assyrian capital of Nineveh.
Archaeologists have struggled for centuries to find physical evidence of the gardens in Babylon. Recent research by Dr. Stephanie Dalley suggests the confusion stems from ancient texts describing the lush terraces of King Sennacherib in Nineveh around 700 BCE.
