An old Ottoman military school now houses Atatürk's personal library
The historic Monastir Military High School, where Mustafa Kemal Atatürk once studied as a young cadet, has been transformed into a museum preserving his extensive personal book collection.
The Bitola Museum in North Macedonia occupies the grand nineteenth-century building that formerly served as the Monastir Military High School. Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, the founder of modern Turkey, attended this academy from 1896 to 1899, establishing a lifelong connection to the site. Today, the memorial room houses thousands of his personal books, many featuring his handwritten notes and underlines in the margins.
